we came here for a work event and this place was fantastic! the inside of the restaurant is absolutely beautifully decorated and very unique. service was awesome, the entire staff were extremely friendly. and to top that all off, food was amazing. i got the new york strip and my favorite sides were the fingerling potatoes and the mashed potatoes. i would definitely recommend this place and will come back for sure. thank you, tia carmen!

Great food and ambience!! Service was superb!! The decor is very tasteful. Definitely recommended

I went here after a long day at a conference and really enjoyed it. I was able to sit at the bar with my friend right away even though it was a Saturday at almost 7 pm. I had a beautiful cocktail and the tuna tostada. Both were great. My friend had the trout and we shared the brûlée yuca which was amazing. We also had the chocolate ice cream which was kind of like a hazelnut chocolate and so amazing. The server was friendly and helpful. I would come back if I lived here.

Attended the Tia Carmen Duckhorn Wine dinner, which was a fantastic experience. It was great to be able to experience a few items from Tia Carmen's menu like the Tuna crudo, Baja striped bass and the vanilla flan. All 3 were delicious but the Tuna crudo was my favorite. The other dishes at this dinner were so unique and all delicious as well. Service was fantastic here as the staff was constantly attentive and made sure we had the best time. If you ever get a chance to attend a dinner like this, definitely take advantage of the opportunity!

We really enjoyed our visit to Tia Carmen and this rating should be a 4.25. First let me say the service was fantastic 5 stars. The outside patio was nice and relatively casual. Only drawback is you are in a hotel and you definitely feel that way with kids and people running about As for the food, it was excellent and I offer a few suggestions as feedback. We tried the five course tasting experience. The portions are very large for a tasting experience and I could not finish. Let me start by RAVING about the tuna crudo. It was an amazing must have. Each of the individual items on the tasting menu were very good and the aged mole was divine (I don't even like mole). The only "problem" was that the entire tasting menu was extremely rich, umame elements with no fresh or crunchy elements to break up the monotony of the extremely rich and buttery flavors. First course was fried and creamy fritter, then the amazing tuna crudo followed by an extremely rich and creamy yam dish. The next course was a steak topped with bone marrow butter and served with extremely dense and rich yucca mash (again delicious, but I needed a break from the richness and something fresh or crunchy on my plate. Dessert was a buttery golden flan which was great! But again it needed fresh fruit or some fresh element to go with it. We will be back again and I hope they mix up the tasting menu a bit to offer some contrast in their courses! The flavors were all very good so I feel this could be done with minor changes!

We went here for my husband's birthday and what a delight this night was from start to finish! The ambience, vibe and whole atmosphere was inviting and relaxing. Love the decor. Drinks were delicious! The food? OH MY on the food! We haven't found a Mexican restaurant in Arizona that tasted as authentic as real Mexican food like we did coming to Tia Carmen. We just spent time in the south of Mexico recently and this dining experience took us back to that great trip. The presentation here is top-notch, everything looks artistic and everything taste delicious. We had the plantains and pan Fritos for appetizers. The yam dish, the mushroom vegan menudo, corn tostada for dinner and unique flan for dessert. Very impressive all of it. Staff was soooo friendly. Chef Dejan is extremely talented and we spoke to him for a few minutes complimenting the food. We highly recommend coming here for a great experience!

Beautiful and inviting restaurant. Food was good but I think it's overpriced. Service was good too. I noticed the host is in the middle of the restaurant. It's convenient for hotel guest but a little weird for outside guests.

The place was great. The decor was bright and fun! We had drinks here and then brunch the following day! The pineapple and ginger tahona was great. For brunch we did the mercado experience and all of the food was delicious. Everyone was very polite.

Came here on a Saturday night and it was empty. We made a reservation online but you could have walked in without one. We opted for indoor seating but they have a nice outdoor seating area too. It was just too hot. We opted for the tasting menu but underestimated how much food came with it so we were stuffed by the end. They do let you take the food to go and since we were staying in the hotel, they reheated the leftovers for us the next day too. The tasting menu is interesting. The food is unique. A lot of the different plates I normally would not combine together. I would even say some dishes almost had a fusion Asian flavor. Like the tuna crudo comes with a corn coconut broth. It's a chilled broth but not heavy on the corn flavor. It reminds me of a Thai coconut curry sauce. Same with the purple yam, ube, which is used in a lot of Asian cuisines. The tasting menu also comes with a full size 12oz New York steak. I asked for my steak to be cooked rare but it came out barely pink. I believe they mixed up my steak with my friends so we switched but even then her steak was pink and not really rare red. Only dish I was meh about was the dessert which was a vanilla flan. I would have loved it without the heavy shaving of manchego cheese on top. It was overwhelming and pungent and made the taste of the flan salty and sweet but strange. Our server was wonderful. He was always checking on us and he even noticed I didn't like my beverage much and took it off the check. Great guy! Fun experience and the food was unique. Worth a try if you're in the area or wanting to try something different!
